Terms of Use
Last updated: 8 May 2026
By downloading or using RedactLocal, you agree to the terms below.
License
You receive a personal, non-transferable license to install and use RedactLocal on Macs you own or control. You may not redistribute the application, repackage it for resale, or remove the code-signing identity. The license is per-person, not per-organization. If your colleagues want to use it, they can install their own copy.
Price
RedactLocal is free. There are no usage limits, no account, and no paid tier. You can redact as many documents as you want, of any length. There is nothing to buy and no recurring fee.
Refunds
RedactLocal is free, so there is nothing to purchase and nothing to refund.
Your documents
RedactLocal processes your documents on your Mac. We do not see, store, transmit, or back up your documents at any point. You retain all rights and responsibilities for the documents you process. We make no claim of ownership or access.
No warranty
RedactLocal is provided as-is. We try to make the redaction engine accurate, but no automated PII detector catches everything. The Review step before export exists for this reason. You are responsible for confirming that the output PDF meets your professional, regulatory, or contractual obligations before sharing it. We are not liable for missed or incorrect redactions, lost documents, or downstream consequences of using the application.
Disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA. We'd much rather solve any problem over email than in court.
Changes
If we update these terms in a way that meaningfully changes your rights or obligations, we'll note the change at the top of this page and, where we have a way to contact you, send an email.
