RedactLocal is a Mac application that processes your documents entirely on your Mac. We don't run a server that sees your documents.

What we collect

From the application: nothing. RedactLocal contains no analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporters, and no usage tracking. You can verify this on your own machine using a network monitor.

From this website (redactlocal.com): we use Vercel's privacy-respecting Web Analytics, which records page views and referrers without cookies and without sending personal data to third parties. We do not run any other tracking, ads, or third-party scripts on this site.

The model download

On first launch, RedactLocal downloads its language model from a public CDN (Hugging Face by default). This download contains no information about you or your documents. After it finishes, the app works fully offline.

Updates

RedactLocal checks for updates using the Sparkle framework. The check sends only the current app version and macOS version. No documents, no user identifiers, no document content. You can disable update checks in the app's preferences if you prefer.
